The picturesque, snow-white Talisker distillery, which was founded by two brothers in 1831, is located on the wild and romantic coast of the Isle of Skye, south of Dunvegan. After their deaths, numerous successors tried to successfully continue the distillery, but all failed. Only a financial manager and a wine and spirits merchant succeeded in taking over the business. After a devastating fire in 1960, the distillery was rebuilt true to the original.

This whisky, part of Diageo's 2022 Special Release Series, is presented under the theme "Elusive Expressions", which includes rare bottlings brought to life through artwork and stories centred around mythical creatures. Each bottling is bottled at individual cask strength, with no chill-filtration or colouring added to preserve purity.

The Talisker whisky in this series is 11 years old and matures in both first fill and refill bourbon casks as well as in wine seasoned casks, which characterises its unmistakable character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with reddish amber reflections.

Nose: Fine sherry sweetness with aromas of dried figs, sultanas, honey, vanilla, roasted nuts and elegant oak spice.

Flavour: Full-bodied and silky, with notes of dark chocolate, toffee, ripe plums, orange peel, gentle spices and a hint of espresso.

Finish: Long lasting, smooth and warming, with lingering dried fruit, walnuts, spices and a subtle oak note.

The Gordon & MacPhail Linkwood 25 Years Old is a first-class whisky that is perfect for pure enjoyment. Its flavours can be opened up even further with a few drops of water. Thanks to its rich sherry notes, it goes perfectly with dark chocolate, roasted almonds or mature cheese. Its luxurious depth is also particularly impressive in combination with game dishes, caramelised desserts or nut cake.
