Made from a traditional single pot still mashbill - a blend of malted and unmalted barley - this Irish whiskey is distilled using traditional methods in copper pot stills and bottled at 50% vol. This second edition of the Wonders of Wood series emphasises Teeling's commitment to innovation by exploring the influences of rare wood species on Irish whiskey. Portuguese oak is known for its high tannin levels and aromatic intensity, which gives this whiskey an impressive depth. Bottled without chill filtration.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with reddish reflections.

Nose: Spicy and complex with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, toasted oak and dark chocolate, underpinned by honey and dried fruit.

Palate: Full-bodied and rich with flavours of toffee, vanilla, pepper and dark berries, accompanied by a fine, woody spiciness of Portuguese oak.

Finish: Langs and dry with lingering notes of oak spice, cocoa and subtle smoke.

This powerful single pot still whiskey is perfect for drinking on its own or with a few drops of water to bring out its rich flavours even more. It harmonises perfectly with spicy dishes, grilled meat or mature cheese, as its oak spice is an exciting addition to savoury flavours. As a dessert accompaniment, it goes perfectly with dark chocolate, walnut cake or a creamy crème brûlée.
