This exclusive bottling is based on selected private Imperial reserves from Miguel Barceló, which have been further refined especially for this anniversary edition. Following their initial maturation, the selected reserves underwent an additional two years’ cask ageing in American and French oak. Overall, a combination of American, French and European oak defines the character of this bottling. In this way, Barceló combines its many years of experience in Dominican rum production with a selection of casks specifically tailored to the anniversary.


With a robust 43 per cent alcohol content, the Barceló Imperial 40 Aniversario is presented in a 0.7-litre bottle complete with a gift box. The additional maturation lends this premium blend a distinctive blend of fruit, spices, nuts and oak. Tasting Note

Colour: Brilliant copper.

Nose: Complex, with notes of dried apricots, raisins and cherries, accompanied by chocolate mousse, toffee, crème brûlée and warm baking spices.

Palate: Smooth and full-bodied with gingerbread, vanilla and toasted nuts, complemented by nutmeg, fruity notes and spicy oak.

Finish: Long-lasting and complex, with cardamom, caramel and pepper, as well as a delicately tart aftertaste of tobacco and oak.

The Barceló Imperial 40 Aniversario is best served neat at room temperature, allowing the influences of the various oak casks to unfold fully. Culinary pairings include mature cheeses, roasted nuts and high-quality dark chocolate, whose robust flavours complement the complex character of this bottling.
