Don Papa, one of the lesser-known heroes of the Philippine Revolution, played a decisive role in the struggle for his country’s independence. As a foreman on a sugar cane plantation, he recognised the injustice of colonial rule and courageously joined the resistance. He eventually became the leader of his compatriots and led them in their quest to drive the invaders from his homeland. Don Papa hailed from the island of Negros, one of the central islands in the Philippine archipelago, and his name is now a symbol of freedom and resistance.

Don Papa Gayuma pays homage to the shamans of Mt Kanlaon and Isla del Fuego, and reflects the mystical and rich culture of these regions. This exceptional rum is first matured for three years in ex-bourbon casks before being further refined for six months in heavily toasted Rioja casks. The finish in Islay whisky casks lends it an intense complexity, which is reflected in its multi-layered aromas and characterful flavour.

This edition is a meisterwerk that will delight lovers of premium rum.
