Benriach is always on the lookout for an eclectic mix of casks from around the world, selected for their exceptional character and flavours to pass on to the whisky. The casks are filled with three different types of spirit: classic, peated or triple distilled.

The distillery is known for its long-standing tradition and is creating a new product range at the end of 2019 that brings out the diversity and versatility of Benriach's "orchard fruit style" even more, covering the entire spectrum of whisky flavours.

The colour palette of the gift boxes and labels is inspired by the natural surroundings of Speyside.

Spirits matured for a minimum of 16 years in a combination of bourbon, sherry and oak casks are used to create Benriach The Sixteen. The whisky is then expertly blended to create a smooth, sherry-rich single malt that is layered with stone fruit, creamy malt and honey, harmonising perfectly with lingering sultanas and a spiced oak finish.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold with amber reflections.

Nose: Sweet aromas of ripe fruit such as apples and pears, which mingle with spicy notes of cinnamon, vanilla and a hint of oak.

Flavour: Fruity and full-bodied with a harmonious blend of sherry notes, light honey tones and a gentle woody spiciness.

Finish: Langs and warm, with a subtle smoky note that is slowly replaced by a sweet, fruity memory.

Benriach THE SIXTEEN is an ideal whisky to enjoy on its own to experience the full range of flavours. It pairs perfectly with a selection of mature cheeses such as Manchego or Gruyère. Dark chocolate, especially chocolate with a high cocoa content, also goes very well with the fruity and spicy notes of this whisky. Those who prefer to be even more creative can use it in a classic whisky sour or in a "Rob Roy" cocktail to achieve an additional depth of flavour.
