The Kavalan SOLIST Pedro Ximénez Cask stands for the intense cask character and concentrated flavour for which the Kavalan Distillery is appreciated worldwide. This limited edition single cask bottling is matured in selected Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, one of the few sherries made exclusively from the Pedro Ximénez (PX) grape variety. PX is a classic dessert wine, known for its very dark colour and its sweet and aromatic depth of caramel, dried fruit, chocolate and nuts. Through this maturation, the whisky develops its multi-layered, soft-sweet character, which fits seamlessly into the signature of the Kavalan Solist series. This bottling is produced as a single cask and bottled in natural cask strength at 58.6% by volume, unchill-filtered and without colouring.


Taiwan's tropical climate intensifies the cask maturation and ensures that the typical PX flavours are particularly deeply infused into the whisky. The result is a PX Sherry Single Malt that impresses with both its aromatic richness and its soft structure. The dark sweetness of the PX casks combines with the creamy, elegant Kavalan notes to create a harmonious overall picture. Presented in a high-quality wooden box, this whisky is one of the most characterful and sought-after bottlings in the Solist series.

Tasting Note

Colour: Dark honey gold.

Nose: Rosemary and a hint of lemongrass, sweet citrus notes, toffee and subtle oak tones.

Flavour: Very fruity and warm, classic PX notes combined with the velvety Kavalan texture; sultanas and honey linger.

Finish: Langs, soft, sweet and fruity with warm depth.

This Kavalan Solist Pedro Ximénez Cask is an excellent match for rich desserts such as chocolate tart, date and walnut cake or creamy vanilla pudding, as its sweet depth complements these flavours wonderfully. It also harmonises with strong cheeses such as Blue Stilton or old Gouda, whose salty spiciness provides an exciting contrast to the PX sweetness. The whisky unfolds its full potential with pastries such as Florentines, almond brittle or honey biscuits.
