The Lochlea CASK STRENGTH Single Malt Whisky Batch 1 60.1% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is the first edition of the cask strength range from the independent Lochlea Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands. The distillery, which is located on the former farm of Robert Burns, is still young but is already known for its clear signature: natural production, full transparency and an independent Lowland style. With this bottling, Lochlea presents a whisky that comes unadulterated straight from the cask into the bottle - powerful, complex and completely without chill filtration or colouring.


Batch 1 was bottled at an impressive 60.1% vol. and matured in a careful combination of first-fill bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. This creates a multi-faceted character that combines fruity freshness with deep flavour. Presented in a stylish gift box (GB), it is not only interesting for collectors, but also a real experience for connoisseurs who appreciate the unadulterated strength of a cask strength whisky.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold with warm copper reflections.

Nose: Fresh red apples, vanilla, honey, spicy sherry notes and light roasted aromas.

Flavour: Intense and oily, with malt, sweet caramel, dark fruits, oak and a fine spiciness.

Finish: Langs, strong and warming with fruity and woody accents.

Lochlea Cask Strength Batch 1 is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open up its flavours. It harmonises perfectly with strong cheese, dark chocolate or smoked meat. It also shows its full strength with a cigar. Thanks to its limited availability and elegant gift box, it also makes an excellent gift or collector's item for lovers of authentic Lowland whiskies.
