The Glen Els WAYFARE The Cask Strength Batch No. 003 (2023) is an exclusive small-batch bottling from the renowned Elsburn Distillery (formerly Glen Els) in Germany. Due to high demand, this special bottling was removed from the core range, but the Wayfare is now returning in limited form. With a powerful alcohol content of 58.2 % vol. and a limited edition of 3,840 bottles worldwide, this whisky is a coveted collector's item for connoisseurs.

Wayfare is a masterfully composed blend of whiskies aged between 4 and 11 years. It is matured 50% in sherry hogsheads, which provide fruity and spicy notes, and 50% in a combination of Port, Marsala, Malaga and Grand Cru Claret hogsheads, which give the whisky an impressive depth and sweet complexity.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep mahogany with reddish reflections.

Nose: Intense aromas of dark berries, ripe dried fruit, spicy oak and a subtle hint of chocolate.

Flavour: Full-bodied and complex with notes of sultanas, dark chocolate, caramel, red fruits and a hint of nuts and spices.

Finish: Long lasting, powerful and warm with a mixture of fruity sweetness, spicy oak and a hint of wine notes.

The Elsburn WAYFARE Cask Strength unfolds its full potential neat or with a few drops of water to open up the flavours further. It harmonises perfectly with dark chocolate, mature cheese or roasted nuts. Alternatively, it is suitable for sophisticated whisky cocktails such as a Rob Roy or a Sherry Cask Old Fashioned to emphasise its complex cask notes in style.
