The Deanston Virgin Oak Highland Single Malt Cask Strength Batch No. 1 Edition 2023 is a limited-edition bottling from the renowned Deanston Distillery, which is known for its natural, unpeated Highland whiskies. This special Cask Strength Edition stands out for its intense variety of aromas and its authentic cask strength of 58.5% ABV.

Maturation begins in traditional bourbon casks, before the whisky is finished for a further 9 to 12 months in premium American virgin oak casks. These fresh oak casks lend it exceptional depth, intense woody notes and a creamy sweetness that harmonises perfectly with the malty and spicy Elements. It is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring agents, allowing the whisky to be enjoyed in its purest form.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Intense and complex with notes of vanilla, sweet honey, spicy oak and a hint of cinnamon.

Palate: Full-bodied and rich, with flavours of caramel, toasted nuts, spicy notes and creamy malt.

Finish: Long-lasting, warm and spicy with a combination of sweet vanilla and robust woody notes.

Deanston Virgin Oak Cask Strength is ideal for drinking neat, preferably with a few drops of water to allow the flavours to unfold to their full potential. It pairs particularly well with dark chocolate, roasted almonds or a spicy steak. Alternatively, it can add exceptional depth and complexity to robust whisky cocktails such as a Whisky Old Fashioned or a Rob Roy.
