This 17-year-old bottling comes from a secret distillery on Islay and has matured for over a decade and a half in ex-bourbon casks, developing a perfect balance between smoky peat, maritime influences and sweet vanilla notes. At 50.5% vol., this whisky is presented in a powerful bottling that brings out its intense flavours to the full.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow with copper reflections.

Nose: Intense peat smoke with maritime notes, citrus fruits, toasted oak and a hint of vanilla.

Flavour: Full-bodied and complex with smoky peat notes, sweet vanilla, honey, salty sea air and a fine spiciness from the bourbon casks.

Finish: Long-lasting, warm and complex with notes of smoke, oak and a light fruity sweetness.

Port Askaig 17 Years Old is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water to soften the smoky notes and emphasise the sweet and spicy accents. It harmonises perfectly with dark chocolate, smoked fish, roasted almonds or a mild cigar. It also shows its unique depth and complexity as an accompaniment to a strong blue cheese.
