From 2024, the Plantation brand will be renamed Planteray by Maison Ferrand. This decision reflects the company's endeavour to show sensitivity and respect for historical contexts, particularly with regard to issues such as racial equality, equality and diversity.

The name change aims to make the brand image more modern and cosmopolitan. "Planteray" combines "Plant" for sugar cane and "Ray" for rays of sunshine, which support the growth of sugar cane, and aims to create a positive association without historical baggage. Despite the name change, the flavour and production process of the rums remain unchanged.

The rum undergoes fermentation for 2 to 3 days before being distilled in a column still. After distillation, it is aged for 11 years in bourbon barrels (200 litres) in the country of origin, which gives it its basic structure. It is then given a special finish at MAISON FERRAND, which lasts 1 year and 3 months in Ferrand barrels (350 litres) to develop additional flavours before maturing for a further 9 months in Kopke Port barrels.

Nose: Cherries, rum pot, wood, almonds.

Flavour: Round, light acidity, cherries, almonds.

Finish: Langs on the palate.
