The Hampden Estate Rum 8 Years Old Pure Single Jamaican Rum 46% vol. 0.7 l is an authentic Pure Single Jamaican Rum that embodies the distinctive style of one of the Caribbean’s oldest distilleries. The Hampden Estate Distillery was founded as early as 1753 in Trelawny, Jamaica, and enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide for its characterful, high-ester rums. The sugar cane used comes from the distillery’s own Everglades Farms, enabling it to control the entire production process. The exceptionally long fermentation process, using natural, local yeasts, produces the intense ester aromas for which Hampden is renowned worldwide. This high-quality 0.7 l bottle is aimed particularly at connoisseurs of traditional, unsweetened Jamaican rums.


Distillation takes place exclusively in copper pot stills, including modern stills from the Scottish manufacturer Forsyths, which give the rum its exceptional aromatic depth. The Hampden Estate 8 Years Old is then matured for at least eight years under tropical conditions in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. Jamaica’s hot and humid climate intensifies the cask maturation and ensures remarkable complexity. To bring the alcohol content to 46% vol., Hampden uses only water from its own mountain spring. The rum is bottled without added sugar, colouring or glycerine, thereby preserving its authentic, natural character. This uncompromising production process makes it an outstanding example of the traditional Jamaican rum style.

Colour: Natural gold with amber highlights.

Nose: Intense ester notes with raisins, sweet smoke, cinnamon, dark cherries and plums.

Palate: Full-bodied and spicy with aniseed, tropical fruits, a typical Jamaican ester note, peppermint and delicate spices.

Finish: Lang, full-bodied and fruity-spicy with lingering notes of esters and oak.
