The Tamdhu DISTINCTION II Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 48% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is an independent limited edition within the Quercus Alba Distinction series, which differs specifically from its predecessor with a deeper, darker and creamier flavour profile. Here too, maturation in first-fill American oak Oloroso sherry casks takes centre stage, but in the Distinction II bottling, the cask selection was made in such a way that richer, more chocolaty and intensely spicy notes are more prominent. The Tamdhu Distillery is thus continuing its philosophy of bringing out different facets within a clearly defined cask concept.


As with Distinction I, the wood's journey begins in the oak forests of North America before the barrels are prepared, air-dried and pre-coated with Oloroso sherry in the Spanish sherry triangle over a period of years. In the Distinction II version, however, there is a clearly recognisable focus on deep sherry flavours, dark fruit and a pronounced creaminess, which clearly sets this edition apart from the first release. Bottled at 48%, without chill filtration and in a natural colour, this Speyside single malt Scotch whisky is particularly full-bodied and structured. The high-quality gift box emphasises the limited and collector-worthy character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Natural amber with more intense, darker reflections.

Nose: Malt, vanilla, spicy oak, orange, mint, clearly deeper sherry notes.

Flavour: Creamy and full-bodied, plums, dark chocolate, ripe fruit, intense oak.

Langs: Very long lasting, pronounced sherry oak, figs, golden syrup, spicy and deep.

The Tamdhu Distinction II Speyside Single Malt is ideal for drinking neat, ideally at room temperature or with a few drops of water to fully develop its complex and creamy structure. Due to its stronger, darker character, this sherry cask matured single malt whisky goes particularly well with dark chocolate desserts, chocolate tart, fig desserts, dates or caramel biscuits. It also harmonises perfectly with matured cheese, nut variations or more intense desserts, where its depth and spiciness come into their own.
