In Goyave, a small village in the south-west of Guadeloupe on the Atlantic coast, lies the Domaine Sainte Marie Marquisate, which has been in existence since 1895 and is renowned for the production of rhum agricole. Today, the Karukera and Longueteau distilleries share the production facilities on this historic site.

Karukera Vieux, a classic rhum agricole, is made from fresh sugarcane juice. This rhum is aged for at least three years in small oak casks, which are specially selected to ensure the quality and purity of the final product. Karukera’s cellar master takes particular care to avoid using any artificial additives, colourings or sugar. This approach allows the natural characteristics of the local terroir to take centre stage and preserves the rum’s authenticity.

By avoiding additives and carefully selecting the ageing casks, Karukera Vieux is able to develop its characteristic flavours, which distinguish it as a high-quality rhum agricole.

Nose: Notes of spices, a hint of exotic fruits.

Palate: Spicy, fruity, baked banana, sugar cane, hints of cloves and pepper.

Finish: Long-lasting, sweet.
