Botran Ron Añejo 12 Solera 40% vol. 0.7 l is a high-quality premium rum from Guatemala, produced in the traditional manner from virgin cane honey. This is concentrated sugar cane juice from which water is removed prior to distillation in order to concentrate the natural sugar cane flavours. This labour-intensive process gives the rum its characteristic depth and sets it apart from many molasses-based rums. The historic Botran Distillery ages its rums at around 2,300 metres above sea level, where the cool highland climate allows for a particularly slow and balanced maturation in cask. The 0.7-litre bottle embodies authentic Guatemalan rum-making craftsmanship and a harmonious blend of tradition and quality.
Botran Ron Añejo 12 is aged for at least twelve years using the Solera method in carefully selected American white oak casks. Through this ageing process, the rum develops a harmonious balance between fruit, wood and subtle spicy notes. Compared to many modern rum bottlings, the Botran 12 stands out for its pleasantly dry style and natural character. At 40% ABV, this Solera rum is smooth, harmonious and versatile. Its well-balanced aroma makes it an ideal choice for both newcomers and experienced rum lovers alike, and an excellent everyday sipper.
Tasting Note
Colour: Golden brown with amber highlights.
Nose: Apricots, blackberries, fresh sugar cane and subtle woody notes.
Palate: Fruity notes, dried figs, almonds, walnuts, cedar wood and subtle hints of caramel.
Finish: Long-lasting, harmonious and pleasantly spicy with subtle woody and fruity notes.
The Botran Ron Añejo 12 Solera is excellent served neat, on the rocks or as the base for premium rum cocktails. This premium rum from Guatemala pairs particularly well with dark chocolate, nutty biscuits, dried fruit, crème brûlée or mature hard cheese. It also impresses in a Cuba Libre thanks to its balanced and not overly sweet profile. Made from virgin cane honey, aged for at least twelve years using the Solera method at an altitude of 2,300 metres, and matured in American white oak casks, Botran Ron Añejo 12 is one of Guatemala’s best-known rum specialities.
