The Smokehead UNFILTERED Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 46% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is a strong and characterful bottling from the rugged whisky world of the Scottish island of Islay. It is produced by Ian Macleod Distillers, who target lovers of intense, smoky whiskies with the Smokehead brand. With the addition of Unfiltered, this edition is particularly authentic: bottled without chill-filtration, it retains all the flavours and full texture of the malt.


The Smokehead UNFILTERED impresses with its distinctive peat profile, which is typical of Islay, yet interpreted in a modern way. At 46% vol., it is strong enough to develop its complex flavours, yet remains harmonious and accessible. Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold with slight copper reflections.

Nose: Intense peat smoke, sea salt, citrus notes and a hint of vanilla.

Flavour: Full-bodied, spicy and powerful with notes of campfire smoke, dried fruit, oak and sweetish spice.

Finish: Langs, smoky and maritime with a subtle sweetness.

The Smokehead UNFILTERED is a whisky for lovers of strong, peaty flavours and is ideal for drinking neat to experience its full complexity. A few drops of water open up additional layers and slightly soften the intense smoke. In culinary terms, it harmonises particularly well with grilled meat, BBQ dishes or strong cheeses.
