The Polz Winery, situated in southern Styria, Austria, is distinguished by its ideal wine-growing location. Founded in 1896, it enjoys a reputation for producing high-quality wines, thanks to optimal climatic conditions and specific soil characteristics. Under the leadership of the fourth generation, the winery strives to preserve its heritage and continue the family tradition with a strong focus on sustainability. Responsible for the cellar and winemaking, Christoph Polz relies on meticulous manual labour and selective grape harvesting, which underlines the quality of the wines.

This white wine, made from the Morillon grape variety – also known as Chardonnay – is grown on soil comprising shell limestone, loam, sand, calcareous marl and slate. It is matured in stainless steel tanks and sealed with a screw cap. It has ageing potential until at least 2026.

Tasting Note

A clear, pale lemon-yellow colour with green highlights in the glass. On the nose, fruity and exotic aromas of ripe nectarines, pomelos, papayas, melons and candied lemon zest unfold. Lively and inviting on the palate, with salty minerality and fruity notes. The finish is long-lasting, exotic and fruity.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C

Pairs superbly with caramelised sheep’s cheese on beetroot, enhanced with honeyed walnuts and cress, as well as with a classic snack.
