In 1975, Gérard Bertrand began harvesting grapes at the Château de Villemajou in the Corbières, where he discovered his passion for wine. Over the course of twelve years, he honed his skills alongside his father, Georges Bertrand, until the fourth generation finally carried on the family legacy. Following the tragic death of his father in 1987, Gérard Bertrand took over the family business at the Domaine de Villemajou and founded the Gérard Bertrand wine company. The Gérard Bertrand Group comprises 16 vineyards and 16 châteaux along the French Mediterranean coast, spanning a total of 850 hectares. Some of the hand-harvested grapes are aged in 225-litre Bordeaux barrels, whilst the rest are stored in stainless steel tanks.

Gérard Bertrand Limoux Chardonnay Domaine de L’Aigle is an outstanding white wine, made exclusively from hand-picked Chardonnay grapes. Once the grapes have reached optimal ripeness, they are carefully transported to the winery, where gentle pneumatic pressing takes place to preserve the quality of the must as much as possible. Before alcoholic fermentation begins, the must is cooled and left to settle. Part of the wine is fermented in oak barrels, during which complete malolactic fermentation takes place, giving the wine its fine texture. After ageing on the fine lees, the wine is bottled and sealed with a natural cork.

Tasting Note

A pale golden-green colour with silver-grey highlights in the glass. Expressive on the nose, with fruity notes of white peaches, marzipan and fresh pastries. Fresh, mineral and smooth on the palate, with a hint of mint. A long-lasting finish.

Serving temperature: 14–15 °C

An excellent accompaniment to roast poultry, fish and seafood.
