The Hennessy distillery, founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy in Cognac, France, is today one of the most renowned cognac houses in the world. Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer who emigrated to Cognac, founded the company "Jas Hennessy & Co", which quickly gained a worldwide reputation.

Hennessy Cognacs are produced exclusively from grapes grown in the Cognac region. After double distillation in traditional copper stills, pure eaux-de-vie is produced, which serves as the basis for the high-quality cognacs. The Hennessy XO is then matured in new oak barrels, which characterise its unique flavour. The characteristic bottle design for this Hennessy XO was created by Gérald de Geoffre and emphasises the company's claim to luxury.
