The Kilchoman SANAIG CASK STRENGTH Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2024 is a powerful special bottling from the independent farm distillery Kilchoman Distillery and bears the name of the remote Sanaigmore Bay on Islay. The original Sanaig composition was based on bourbon casks with a smaller proportion of sherry. For this cask-strength edition, the cask composition has been specifically developed further: The majority of the maturation now takes place in sherry casks, primarily Oloroso, supplemented by ex-bourbon and other sherry casks. This brings the sherry-accentuated depth more to the fore without losing the maritime, peaty house style.


This first cask strength edition for the German market is bottled in its natural state at 57.8% vol. and is not chill-filtered or coloured. All flavour-giving oils and esters are retained. The result is a rich Islay single malt that precisely balances smoke, fruit and spice and is clearly aimed at experienced Islay enthusiasts. The presentation in the gift box emphasises the limited character of this edition.

Tasting Note

Colour: Intense gold to copper, naturally from cask maturation.

Nose: Toffee sweetness, dark fruit, red berries, smoked oak, peat smoke.

Flavour: Intense sweetness, spicy dark chocolate, sultanas, liquorice, warming peat smoke.

Finish: Persistent sweetness and spices, integrated smoke throughout.

The Kilchoman SANAIG CASK STRENGTH 2024 is ideal for pure enjoyment and benefits from a little time in the glass or a few drops of water to further open up its depth and structure. It is very harmonious with dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, desserts with dried fruit or strong hard cheese. This cask-strength Sanaig edition also impresses as the focus dram in an Islay tasting with its intensity, balance and lingering finish.
