The Tomintoul distillery, located in the Scottish Highland Park in the Cairngorms National Park and named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, opened its doors in 1964 and is now owned by Angus Dundee Distillers.

At 370 metres above sea level, Tomintoul is the second highest distillery in Scotland, surpassed only by Braeval Distillery, which was founded in 1973. Although the majority of the 3.2 million litres of alcohol produced annually is exported to the United States for blends, Tomintoul continues to bring special single cask bottlings to the market.

This limited edition single malt, distilled in Tomintoul in 2008, spent a total of 15 years in carefully selected casks to achieve its special maturity. After an initial maturation phase in American oak bourbon casks, which gave it its basic flavours, the whisky was given a special finish in selected Tawny Port barriques.

These casks were personally selected by master distiller Robert Fleming to give the whisky additional depth and a distinctive flavour profile. The single malt was bottled without the addition of colouring agents and without chill-filtration, which preserves its natural purity and emphasises its handcrafted quality.

Tasting Note

Colour: Gold.

Nose: Dark chocolate, cherries, spices, cinnamon.

Flavour: Red fruits, rhubarb, honey, vanilla cream, cocoa.

Finish: Langs on the palate.
