Mount Gay Estate, located on the plateau of the Upper Coral Reef Terrace in St Lucy, Barbados, was raised from the sea around 400,000 years ago and boasts an impressive elevation of 150 metres in the east and 105 metres in the west. The loamy soil of the estate gives the sugar cane plants grown there a special quality.

Mount Gay Rum Single Estate Series Rum #1 is made from 100% molasses extracted from the estate's sugar canes. This molasses is characterised by an exceptionally high sugar content of 72%. A proprietary yeast bred on the Mount Gay Estate is used in the production process. An extended fermentation of 9 days, compared to the usual 4 days, creates a unique rum with a second fermentation. The entire process is 100% pot still, which gives the rum its special complexity.

With only 4,002 numbered bottles, this rum is a true masterpiece that brings to life the unique flavours and terroir of St. Lucy and the exceptional heritage of Mount Gay Rum.

Tasting Note

Nose: Fruity of ripe pears and plums, notes of lemons, nutmeg, oak.

Flavour: Ripe bananas and pineapple, oak, star anise, leather notes.

Finish: Langs on the palate.
