The Foursquare MAGISTERIUM 16 Years Old is a high-calibre bottling from the renowned Foursquare Distillery in Barbados, which is known worldwide for its complex and authentic single blended rums in limited editions. This edition was bottled at natural cask strength with a powerful alcohol content of 58% vol. and is one of the exclusive releases in the globally recognised "Exceptional Cask Selection" - an expression of quality, maturity and precision craftsmanship.

MAGISTERIUM is fully matured for 16 years in carefully selected ex-bourbon casks in a tropical climate, which gives it both depth and structure. This is a true single blended rum, consisting of a blend of column still and pot still distillates - all from one distillery, in keeping with the traditional definition of rum. As is usual with Foursquare, this rum is also uncoloured, unsweetened and not chill-filtered in order to guarantee the full range of flavours and purity.

The name "Magisterium" refers to authority, knowledge and expertise - attributes that apply perfectly to the master blending of Richard Seale, the mastermind behind Foursquare. This bottling is clearly aimed at advanced connoisseurs who value depth, balance and uncompromising quality.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold.

Nose: Powerful with intense notes of vanilla, toasted oak, caramel, dried banana, coconut and a hint of leather.

Palate: Full-bodied and structured with flavours of dark toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg, oak spice, roasted nuts and tropical fruit.

Finish: Langs, dry and complex with lingering spice, roasted flavours and fine wood notes.

This rum is made for Purist enjoyment, preferably neat at room temperature or with a few drops of water to gently open up the complex flavours. It is ideal as a meditative sipping rum for quiet moments of enjoyment or as a highlight in a high-quality tasting. It goes particularly well with dark chocolate, roasted almonds or mature cheese - a rum for connoisseurs that impresses with its maturity, depth and character.
