Since its foundation in 1822, the Fonseca brand has been synonymous with excellent port and has established itself as a benchmark for exceptional quality. With more than two centuries of experience, Fonseca combines traditional winemaking expertise with a spirit of innovation and a deep understanding of port production. Production takes place in the renowned vineyards of Portugal’s Douro Valley, which is regarded as one of the oldest and most prestigious wine regions in the world. The unique terroir is characterised by steep slopes and mineral-rich soils, which shape the flavour of the port wines.

Fonseca Porto Tawny Port is aged for a period of three years in small oak casks with a capacity of around 630 litres. During ageing, the port develops its characteristic colour – from a deep ruby red to a warm, golden-brown hue.

The barrel ageing gives it a smooth, balanced structure and emphasises its mild, rounded character.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden brown.

Nose: Sweet, fruity, velvety apricots, ripe plums, hints of spice, creamy toffee.

Palate: Complex, notes of jam, pleasant acidity.

Finish: Long-lasting.

It is excellent as a dessert wine and really comes into its own when paired with dark chocolate, almonds and ripe berries.
