The Schwarz Kumarod Cuvée Rot 2021 is a powerful red wine from Burgenland with a strong character that impressively demonstrates why the Hans Schwarz winery is considered one of the most exciting red wine estates in Austria. This cuvée is an expression of passion, craftsmanship and regional terroir - a wine with depth, strength and personality. The grape varieties Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and Merlot form the basis of this exceptional wine and are cultivated on the mineral soils around Andau, where hot days and cool nights ensure perfect ripeness and aromatic density.


The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, gently processed and fermented in stainless steel tanks before maturing in wooden barrels. This careful ageing process allows the Kumarod Cuvée Rot to combine the fruit and freshness of Burgenland with an elegant flavour and harmonious structure. The result is a wine that epitomises the modern style of Austrian red wines - powerful but refined, dense but never ponderous.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Schwarz Kumarod Cuvée Red 2021 is a dark ruby-garnet colour with violet reflections. Intense aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums unfold on the nose, accompanied by fine notes of dark chocolate, vanilla and black pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied, juicy and elegant, with ripe, soft tannins and a fine, spicy structure. The dense fruit of blackberries and plums is accompanied by a subtle roasted flavour, while the finish is long-lasting, harmonious and slightly mineral.

The Schwarz Kumarod Cuvée Red 2021 is a versatile accompaniment to grilled or braised meat, lamb dishes, game and mature cheese. It harmonises particularly well with grilled steak, beef roulades or pasta with strong meat sauces. Served at a drinking temperature of 16-18 °C, it reveals its full range of flavours. It can be drunk from 2025 to 2032, gaining even more depth and harmony with ageing. A Burgenland wine with character that masterfully combines fruit, flavour and elegance.
