The Faustino I Gran Reserva 2016 with 14% vol. in a 0.75-litre bottle is one of the best-known and most prestigious Rioja Gran Reservas in Spain and comes from the traditional Bodegas Faustino estate in La Rioja. This long-matured wine made predominantly from Tempranillo, complemented by classic Rioja varieties such as Graciano and Mazuelo, reflects the elegance, depth and aromatic complexity for which the winery is internationally recognised.

The wine matured for many years in American and French oak barrels before being further refined in the bottle. Tasting Note

The colour in the glass is a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. The nose reveals notes of ripe dark berries, dried fruit and delicate roasted flavours, accompanied by vanilla, tobacco, spices and a hint of leather. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, structured and velvety, supported by well-integrated tannins and balanced acidity. The complex flavours of berry fruit, wood nuances and spicy accents continue through to the finish. The finish is elegant, round and long-lasting with a fine, mature flavour.

The Faustino I Gran Reserva 2016 harmonises perfectly with grilled or braised beef, leg of lamb, game dishes, braised vegetables or mushroom ragout. It also goes well with Iberian ham, mature Manchego, pasta with dark sauces, stews and Mediterranean herb dishes.
