The Laphroaig PX Cask Triple Matured Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 48% Vol. 1 litre is a powerful yet complex bottling from the legendary Laphroaig Distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. This characterful Islay single malt Scotch whisky combines the typical maritime smokiness of the distillery with complex cask maturation, which gives the whisky additional depth and aromatic complexity. Production follows the distillery's traditional method of drying malted barley over peat fires and then distilling it with water from the nearby Kilbride Stream.


This Laphroaig single malt whisky is particularly characterised by its triple maturation, which gives it an exceptionally complex structure. Firstly, the whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak, creating classic notes of vanilla and oak. The whisky is then transferred to traditional quarter casks, smaller 19th century-style casks that promote more intensive maturation and a velvety texture thanks to the larger wooden surface area. The Laphroaig PX Cask is given its final character through maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts, which give the Islay whisky additional sweetness, fruity depth and a complex flavour. The result is a powerful peated single malt whisky that combines the typical Laphroaig smokiness with sherry flavours and a balanced structure.

Colour: Antique gold.

Nose: Sweet and smoky, sultanas, sultanas, liquorice, maritime peat smoke notes.

Flavour: Intense and complex, strong peat smoke, sweet sherry, oak, dried fruit, spicy Ingwerer.

Finish: Langs and dry, strong peat smoke, spicy oak, sherry-toned depth, long-lasting.

This Islay single malt Scotch whisky is an excellent accompaniment to strong dishes such as smoked meat, BBQ, grilled lamb or mature cheese. The Laphroaig PX Cask also unfolds its aromatic depth particularly well with dark chocolate, desserts with dried fruit or nut biscuits. Served neat or with a few drops of water, this peated Scotch whisky reveals its complex combination of peat smoke, sherry sweetness and maritime spice particularly impressively.
