The Wolfburn 8 Years Old Cognac Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an exclusive bottling from the young but already highly regarded Wolfburn Distillery, which is located on the north coast of Scotland. Since its revival in 2013, the distillery has focussed on traditional craftsmanship and innovative maturation concepts that give its whiskies a special depth and strength of character.

This limited edition has been matured for eight years in Cognac casks, giving the whisky a particularly rich and complex flavour. The influences of the former Cognac casks give it a subtle fruitiness and a fine sweetness, while the long maturation period perfectly integrates the flavours of oak, vanilla and dried fruit. The whisky is bottled at 46% vol., which gives it a pleasant intensity and brings out its multi-layered flavours to optimum effect.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Fine aromas of honey, ripe apples, dried apricots and vanilla, complemented by a slight spiciness.

Taste: Soft and full-bodied with notes of caramelised nuts, honey, dark fruits and a fine oak note.

Finish: Long-lasting and elegant with nuances of spices, fine wood and a gentle cognac sweetness.

This whisky is ideal for pure enjoyment in order to fully develop the fine cognac flavours. It harmonises particularly well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or mild goat's cheese. It also shows its full sophistication as an accompaniment to a fine cigar or a creamy dessert with vanilla and honey.
