The Lochlea 6 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 2018/2024 marks a significant milestone in the development of the still young but already highly esteemed Lochlea Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands. As the first official vintage bottling, this 6-year-old single malt presents the essence of the Lochlea philosophy: transparency, regionality and uncompromising quality. Distilled in 2018 and bottled in 2024, this bottling expresses the full maturity of an authentic Lowland whisky with clear provenance and strong character.

Three Oloroso sherry casks and three ex-bourbon casks were combined for this limited edition, creating a multi-layered and harmonious flavour profile. The Oloroso casks provide deep, dark fruity notes and a rich spiciness, while the bourbon casks add light, sweet accents and refine the structure. The whisky is unchill-filtered, uncoloured and bottled at a strong 50% vol. - ideal for anyone looking for unadulterated quality and expressiveness.

The edition is visually impressive with an elegant gift box that emphasises the character of the bottling. This vintage is a real highlight for collectors and connoisseurs of independent distilleries.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow with a natural sheen.

Nose: Expressive and complex, with aromas of juicy, ripe berries, sticky dates, candied Ingwerer, green apple, vanilla and cinnamon. There are also hints of toasted oak and delicate fruitiness from the bourbon barrel.

Flavour: Full-bodied and harmonious, with notes of candied orange, ripe grain, clove, vanilla, caramel and a hint of peppery spice. The sweetness of the bourbon casks brings brightness and combines elegantly with the dark fruitiness of the Oloroso influence.

Finish: Rich, long and smooth, with silky tannins, warming oak spice notes, malty depth and a harmonious, fruity and spicy finish.

The Lochlea 6 Years Old Single Malt is an ideal companion for pure enjoyment - at room temperature or with a few drops of water to unfold its full aromatic breadth. In culinary terms, this whisky is perfect in combination with smoked poultry, wild terrine pastries, dark fruit bread or candied nuts. It also unfolds its depth impressively with goat's cheese with fig mustard, caramelised apple pie or a chocolate tart with sea salt.
