The Platzer Chardonnay Vulkanland Steiermark DAC 2024 is a white wine full of character that combines the mineral depth and finesse of the Styrian volcanic region. Produced by Weingut Platzer, a family business based in Tieschen in south-east Styria, this DAC wine exemplifies the delicate style and terroir-emphasised vinification of this up-and-coming wine region. The vines thrive on medium-heavy, lime-free cultivated soils of igneous weathered rock - a geological treasure that lends the wines of this region an unmistakable spiciness and elegance.

Vinification follows the classic Styrian Linie: temperature-controlled fermentation and ageing in stainless steel tanks ensure that the fruit and freshness take centre stage. The wine is bottled with a practical screw cap, which ideally preserves its freshness and makes it a perfect food companion for both everyday and festive occasions. With an alcohol content of 13% vol. and ageing potential until at least 2028, this Chardonnay shows versatility, character and a remarkable ageing potential.

Tasting Note

The Platzer Chardonnay already impresses on the nose with its exotic fruitiness: aromas of ripe papaya and mandarin give the wine an inviting start. On the palate, it delights with a fine fruit melt, a beautiful fullness of extract and an extremely flattering mouthfeel. The finish is long-lasting, soft and carried by elegant fruit - a Chardonnay that leaves a lasting impression both on its own and as an accompaniment to food.

This Chardonnay is an excellent accompaniment to seafood, grilled fish, poultry with light-coloured sauces or Asian wok dishes with a fruity note.
