The Glentauchers 16 Years Old from Signatory Vintage's limited 100 proof edition is a powerful and characterful single malt Scotch whisky that expressively conveys the signature of the Speyside distillery Glentauchers. Distilled in 2009 and bottled in cask year 2023, this exclusive bottling matured for a full 16 years in a single hogshead cask (#11). It was presented in its natural form: non-chill-filtered, without colouring and with a strong alcohol content of 57.1% vol., i.e. 100 British proof - a rarity on the market.

The bottling is part of the "100 Proof Editions" series from Signatory Vintage, an independent bottler based in Pitlochry, which is known for its uncompromising cask selection and authentic whiskies. These editions are bottled exclusively in cask strength and stand for concentration, depth and the pure expressiveness of the respective distillery. The Glentauchers distillery, founded in 1897, is known among connoisseurs for its fruity, creamy malts, which rarely appear as original bottlings - making independent single cask releases such as this all the more sought-after.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden yellow.

Nose: Intense fruity notes with pear, stewed apple and yellow plum, accompanied by vanilla, cereals and a light herbal note.

Flavour: Strong and oily with ripe stone fruit, sweet malt, creamy oak, spices and subtle citrus freshness.

Finish: Langs and warming with vanilla, roasted nuts and elegant wood spice.

This single malt is an ideal candidate for pure enjoyment at room temperature - preferably in a nosing glass. Due to its cask strength, a splash of water is recommended to further open up the fruity and malty flavours. Excellent for experienced whisky enthusiasts and collectors who want to experience the pure expressiveness of an independently bottled Speyside whisky in cask strength.
