This single malt was first matured in American ex-bourbon casks before being finished in ex-red wine casks from the Douro Valley in Portugal - one of the most renowned wine-growing regions in the world, known for port and full-bodied red wines.

The maturation in Douro Valley wine casks gives this GlenAllachie an additional aromatic depth, characterised by dark berries, delicate tannins and sweet spice, which harmoniously combine with the fruity, malty character of the distillery. With an alcohol content of 48% vol., not chill-filtered and bottled in its natural colour, this bottling offers an unadulterated and intense taste experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: Ruby-golden hue.

Nose: Fruity and elegant with ripe red berries, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate and oak spice.

Flavour: Full-bodied with aromas of black cherries, strawberry jam, honey, roasted almonds and a hint of dark chocolate.

Finish: Langs and harmonious with fruity sweetness, soft tannins and fine spice.

This single malt is best enjoyed neat at room temperature, ideally in a nosing glass to bring out the full flavours of the wine cask. A few drops of water open up the structure and release the fruity nuances even more clearly.
