The Signatory Vintage 100 Proof Edition Balmenach 9 Years Old with a volume of 57.1% and a volume of 0.7 litres is a single malt Scotch whisky with a strong character from the Balmenach Distillery in Speyside. This distillery is known for its robust, slightly spicy whiskies, which are predominantly used in blends and only rarely released as a single malt - usually via independent bottlers such as Signatory Vintage.

This whisky was distilled in 2016 and matured for 9 years in a single first fill oloroso sherry butt (cask #57) before being bottled at full cask strength in the 100 proof edition. The maturation in a fresh sherry cask gives it pronounced notes of dried fruit, spice and a fine sweetness. It is bottled uncoloured and not chill-filtered to preserve the authentic character of the cask.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light copper gold with reddish reflections.

Nose: Aromatic and strong, with sherry sweetness, sultanas, dried figs, ripe pears and a hint of roasted hazelnuts.

Flavour: Full-bodied and spicy, characterised by malt, honey, dark chocolate, orange marmalade and a pleasant oak spice.

Finish: Langs and warm with a lingering sherry sweetness, fine spice and subtle roasted notes.
