The Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvée Red 2021, 14% vol., 0.75 l, is a powerful yet elegant red wine cuvée from Burgenland that impressively reflects the region’s potential. Composed of 60 per cent Zweigelt, 20 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon and 20 per cent Merlot, it combines the rich fruitiness of the Zweigelt with the structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the smooth elegance of the Merlot. The grapes are grown on gravelly soils with a sandy component and are carefully harvested by hand.


Vinification involves spontaneous fermentation and a maceration period of four weeks, which ensures intense colour and aromas. The subsequent ageing in stainless-steel tanks and barriques lends the wine additional complexity and depth. Sealed with a screw cap, it retains its freshness and aromas perfectly. It has a ageing potential until 2033, meaning it offers a special tasting experience whether enjoyed young or matured.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Heideboden Cuvée Rot 2021 displays a deep ruby red colour. The nose is dominated by aromas of dark, ripe berries, accompanied by a subtle spiciness. The Zweigelt grape variety, in particular, comes through clearly in both the aroma and flavour. On the palate, it is full-bodied, velvety and harmonious, with soft tannins, ripe fruit and a long, elegant finish.

The Hannes Reeh Heideboden Cuvée Red is the ideal accompaniment to hearty meat dishes. It pairs superbly with braised lamb with rosemary potatoes, grilled guinea fowl, roast beef or game dishes. It is also a delight when served with mature hard cheese. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C – best decanted before drinking to allow the full bouquet to unfold.
