The Octomore EDITION: 16.2 Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Release 2025 58.1% Vol. 0.7 l in a tin box is a limited-edition special bottling from the Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay and forms part of the legendary Octomore range, which is regarded worldwide as the benchmark for extremely peated whiskies. The 16.2 also impresses with a phenol content of 101.4 ppm, giving it the same peat level as the Octomore 16.1.


The Octomore 16.2 is 5 years old and has been matured in a combination of four different cask types, giving it exceptional depth and aromatic complexity. This variety of casks allows it to develop an exciting balance between intense smokiness, fruity sweetness, spicy wood notes and subtle roasted aromas. It is bottled as nature intended, unchill-filtered, without colouring, and at a robust cask strength of 58.1% ABV. It thus presents itself as authentic, powerful and multi-layered – a typical Octomore that nevertheless develops its own distinct character through the selection of casks.


Presented in a high-quality tin box, this edition appeals not only to collectors but also to connoisseurs of exceptionally peaty whiskies who appreciate the innovative character of the Octomore range.

Tasting Note

Colour: Amber with golden highlights.

Nose: Intensely smoky, with notes of vanilla, dried fruit, spicy oak and a hint of dark chocolate.

Palate: Powerful and complex, characterised by peaty smoke, caramel, toffee, dried fruit, roasted notes and an elegant oak structure.

Finish: Very long, intensely smoky, with sweet, fruity and spicy notes.

The Octomore 16.2 reveals its full potential when enjoyed neat in a nosing glass or with a few drops of water, which emphasise its cask complexity even further. Culinary pairings include grilled steak, strong blue cheese, smoked fish or dark chocolate, which perfectly complement its power and smokiness.
