The Douglas Laing Old Particular Caol Ila 9 Years Old 2015 is an exclusive single cask bottling from the renowned Old Particular series by independent bottler Douglas Laing. With a strong 56.8% vol., a maturation period of 9 years and bottled in an elegant 0.7-litre bottle with a stylish gift box (UK), this single malt is aimed at lovers of intense and unadulterated whiskies.


This single cask Islay whisky was distilled in May 2015 and bottled in June 2024. It was given a special finish in a Ruby Port Butt, which gives it additional depth, fruity sweetness and an elegant complexity. Like all bottlings in the Old Particular series, it is not chill-filtered and is bottled without colouring, fully preserving its natural purity and cask finish.


The combination of the smoky, maritime character of the Caol Ila Distillery and the fruity, sweet influences of the Ruby Port cask make this edition an exceptional representative of the series. As a single cask bottling, it is strictly limited and therefore particularly interesting for collectors.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light amber.

Nose: Intense peat smoke, maritime with notes of salt, seaweed and a slight sweetness.

Flavour: Powerful, spicy and complex with campfire smoke, malt, spices and a hint of caramel.

Finish: Langs, smoky and maritime with a fine spiciness.

The Old Particular Ledaig 12 Years Old is ideal for pure enjoyment to experience the typical combination of smoke and maritime notes. With a few drops of water, additional facets such as sweetness and fruitiness can be released. In culinary terms, it harmonises perfectly with grilled meat, strong cheeses such as blue cheese or smoked fish. It is also an excellent choice as an accompaniment to a cigar or dark chocolate with a high cocoa content.
