The Penfolds Max's Shiraz Cabernet 2022 14.5% Vol. 0.75 l is an elegant cuvée from the renowned Australian winery Penfolds, which has been synonymous with world-class wines since 1844. The Max's Linie is named after the legendary cellar master Max Schubert, who is considered the inventor of the iconic Grange. With this wine series, Penfolds honours his philosophy of creating wines that are equally accessible, full of character and of the highest quality.


The cuvée combines Australia's two most important grape varieties: Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Shiraz provides richness, flavour and dark fruit, while Cabernet Sauvignon adds structure, elegance and depth. The grapes come from various premium vineyards in South Australia, including McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Barossa Valley, which ensure optimum ripeness and aromatic diversity. The wine is matured partly in French and American oak barrels, which gives the wine additional complexity, fine roasted flavours and structure.

Tasting Note

In the glass, the Penfolds Max's Shiraz Cabernet 2022 is a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is dominated by aromas of blackcurrants, plums and blackberries, complemented by notes of chocolate, cedar and fine spice. On the palate, it is powerful, fruity and structured, with velvety tannins, well-integrated acidity and a long, harmonious finish.

This Australian red wine is an ideal accompaniment to grilled or braised beef, lamb, game dishes or hearty pasta dishes. It is also an excellent accompaniment to mature hard cheese. Thanks to its intense flavour and structure, it is suitable for festive dinners as well as for special moments of enjoyment in small groups. The ideal serving temperature is 16-18 °C; brief decanting is recommended to allow its full flavour to unfold.
