Description
The Markowitsch Carnuntum Rot 2024 is a finely tuned cuvée from the heart of the Carnuntum region and embodies the perfect balance of fruit, flavour and elegance. Weingut Markowitsch is known for its precise work in the vineyard and in the cellar and shows with this wine why it is one of the top wineries in the region.
The cuvée is made up of 80% Zweigelt, 10% Blaufränkisch and 10% Merlot. The vines grow on gravelly and sandy loam soils, which lend the grapes minerality and structure. The 2024 vintage is considered one of the most exciting in Carnuntum in recent years: a warm start to spring ensured early budding, the hot summer months accelerated the vegetation, and an early harvest, small in quantity but outstanding in quality, produced grapes with incredible concentration. The grapes were harvested by hand in mid-September. After maceration for 10-12 days at 28-30 °C and malolactic fermentation, the wine was matured in large wooden barrels and used barriques. With 13% alcohol by volume, the Markowitsch Carnuntum Rot 2024 presents itself as an authentic ambassador of its region and as a red wine with exceptional finesse.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Markowitsch Carnuntum Red 2024 is a clear ruby red colour with violet reflections. A seductive aroma of juicy cherries unfolds on the nose, accompanied by warm spicy notes and a subtle toasted nuance. On the palate, it is juicy and animating, with lively fruit, elegant structure and fine freshness. The tannins are softly integrated and the finish is characterised by harmony and a pleasantly persistent impression - a typical yet modern representative of the Carnuntum region.

The Markowitsch Carnuntum Rot 2024 is a versatile food companion. Served chilled, it harmonises wonderfully with prosciutto or pasta with mushrooms. Served at a slightly warmer temperature, it goes perfectly with roast meat, grilled beef or lamb. Mediterranean cuisine with herbs and vegetables as well as flavoursome cheese variations also highlight its strengths. The ideal serving temperature is 16-18 °C, which allows its freshness, flavour and elegance to unfold optimally.
