Description
Description
The Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is an iconic red wine from Prager that bears the signature of Angelo Gaja - one of Italy's most famous winemakers, who has left a lasting mark on the wine world with his uncompromising philosophy of quality. Since the 1960s, the Gaja winery has stood for innovation and excellence, and Barbaresco is considered the house's flagship wine. Thanks to warm, sunny months and cool nights, the 2015 vintage produced particularly balanced and harmonious wines that are appreciated for their elegance, depth and longevity.
The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, which find the best conditions on the calcareous marl and clay soils of the Barbaresco zone. The wine is matured traditionally in wooden barrels and barriques, creating structure, complexity and finesse. With an alcohol content of 14% vol., the Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is a wine of great expressiveness that impressively reflects the authenticity of its terroir. It is a wine for special moments and is also a sought-after collector's item with long storage potential.
Tasting Note
In the glass, the Gaja Barbaresco 2015 has a bright ruby red colour with garnet reflections. Elegant aromas of cherries, ripe wild berries and plums unfold on the nose, complemented by floral notes of roses and violets as well as subtle nuances of tobacco, liquorice, truffles and spices. The palate is powerful and complex, with firm but elegant tannins, fresh acidity and a perfect balance between fruit, spice and minerality. The finish is long, precise and remarkably elegant.
The Gaja Barbaresco DOCG 2015 is an outstanding accompaniment to full-flavoured dishes. It harmonises perfectly with game, braised meat, lamb or fillet of beef, but also with mature hard cheeses and truffle dishes. It also unfolds its full strength with classic Piedmontese specialities such as Brasato al Barolo or Tajarin with mushrooms. Served at a temperature of 16-18 °C, it reveals its full potential. Thanks to its structure and depth, it is also ideal for ageing and develops additional complexity and elegance over the years.
