Lochlea Smoke Without Fire Single Estate Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an innovative bottling from the independent Lochlea Distillery in the Scottish Lowlands. As a single estate whisky, it is made exclusively from barley grown on the distillery's own fields. It therefore stands for transparency, authenticity and an uncompromising quality philosophy. Bottled at 46% vol., it offers a harmonious balance between intensity and drinking pleasure.


It was matured in a combination of ex-peated casks and red wine casks, which gives this whisky an exciting flavour. The ex-peated casks give it a subtle smoky flavour, while the red wine casks add fruity depth, red berries and soft tannins. It is bottled without chill-filtration and without colouring, which fully preserves its natural purity and unadulterated aroma. The name "Smoke Without Fire" emphasises the philosophy of this bottling: a noticeable but finely integrated smokiness that is not dominant but harmoniously integrated.

Tasting Note

Colour: Natural gold with light amber reflections.

Nose: Sweet red berries, cherry blossom, lemon zest, floral freshness and gentle smoke.

Flavour: Salty maritime smoke, fresh oak, campfire character, light citrus notes, delicate fruit and a hint of sherbet.

Finish: Slightly charred wood tones, delicate flowers and fine phenols, soft and fresh finish.

The Lochlea Smoke Without Fire shows its strengths pure at room temperature, but is also suitable for creative combinations. It is ideal with mature cheeses such as cheddar, grilled meats such as beef steak or lamb chops and dark chocolate. Due to its special barrel character, it is also ideal as a base for smoky, fruity whisky cocktails, such as a Smoky Manhattan or a Boulevardier, in which the combination of red wine notes and subtle smokiness comes into its own. As part of a whisky tasting, it expresses the experimental side of Lochlea Distillery.
