This single malt is particularly characterised by its maturation in a European Oak Butt, which was previously filled with sweet dessert wine from Montilla, Spain. These casks emphasise the typical sweet honey note of Balvenie, which is perfectly balanced by rich vanilla oak and a warming spiciness. Each bottling comes from a single cask and has been carefully selected by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie himself. This gives each bottle an individual character and emphasises the special boutique approach of this series.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold with copper reflections.

Nose: Rich and complex with honey, sultanas, dried figs, vanilla and delicate cocoa notes.

Flavour: Full-bodied, sweet and balanced with sherry tones, dark chocolate, dates, caramel and fine spice.

Finish: Langs, warm and elegant with dried fruit, oak and vanilla.

The Balvenie Montilla Curious Cask unfolds its full character neat in a nosing glass or with a few drops of water, which brings out the sherry and dessert wine nuances even more intensely.
