It is initially matured in American oak barrels that were previously filled with bourbon. This phase gives the whiskey soft and sweet flavours. It is then matured in rare Irish oak barrels made from oak from the Wicklow Mountains. This combination creates a harmonious balance: the gentle sweetness of the bourbon barrels is complemented by the strong, spicy and slightly tart flavours of the Irish oak, creating an unmistakable interplay of aromas. Each bottle bears the image of St Kevin, the patron saint of Glendalough, who stands for contemplation and originality - characteristics that are also reflected in this whiskey.
