The Lacrime Primitivo di Manduria Riserva 14.5% Vol. 0.75 l is a noble, powerful red wine from Apulia that shows the full potential of the Primitivo grape variety from the famous Manduria growing region to perfection. The designation Riserva stands for particularly high-quality wines that have been matured for at least two years - part of which in oak barrels - to develop depth, structure and complexity. The vineyards are located in the heart of Salento, where chalky soils, hot days and cool nights give the grapes their intense flavour and concentration.


The grapes are harvested late and selectively to achieve maximum ripeness and flavour density. After fermentation, the wine matures for 12 to 18 months in wooden barrels before harmonising further in the bottle. The result is a deep, velvety and harmonious red wine that combines Mediterranean warmth, intense fruit and fine spice in an ideal balance - a prime example of the style of Primitivo di Manduria Riserva.

Tasting Note

The Lacrime Primitivo di Manduria Riserva presents itself in the glass in a dark ruby red colour with garnet reflections. Intense aromas of ripe plums, black cherries and blackberries unfold on the nose, accompanied by notes of vanilla, cinnamon, tobacco and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety and warm, with ripe fruit, fine roasted flavours and a pleasantly soft tannin structure. The finish is long, spicy and elegant, with nuances of dried fruit, cocoa and Mediterranean herbs. A red wine of great depth and balance that impressively reflects the typical intensity of the south.

The Lacrime Primitivo di Manduria Riserva is an ideal accompaniment to grilled or braised meat, fillet of beef, rack of lamb, game dishes or mature cheese. It also harmonises perfectly with pasta with strong ragùs or steaks with Mediterranean herbs. The recommended drinking temperature is 16-18 °C. It can be drunk from 2025 to 2035, as this wine gains complexity and depth through ageing in the bottle.
