Produced at the traditional Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, one of the most northerly distilleries in Scotland, this single malt impressively combines perfect craftsmanship, local identity and the unmistakable signature of the house.

The speciality of Heather Cask Strength lies in its production: it is distilled from 100% peat-smoked barley from Hobbister Moor, an area known for its aromatic peat infused with purple heather. This heather gives the peat and therefore the whisky its characteristic note of fine, floral smoke, which blends subtly into the other flavours without overpowering them.

This single malt is bottled at cask strength at 63.6% vol. without chill-filtration to preserve its full intensity. It is matured in a combination of first-fill oak casks seasoned with American sherry and selected refill casks, creating a harmonious interplay of sweetness, spice and smoke. Highland Park HEATHER Cask Strength represents the most powerful expression of the local heather peat and offers a deep, multi-layered flavour experience.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold with an amber shimmer.

Nose: Strong, aromatic smoke, framed by honey, heather, toasted oak and delicate sherry notes.

Flavour: Full-bodied and intense with hints of charred marshmallow, macadamia nuts, brandy butter, toasted wood and fine heather smoke.

Finish: Langs, smoky and spicy with a fine sweetness and a creamy vanilla note.

Highland Park HEATHER Cask Strength unfolds its full depth on its own or with a few drops of water, allowing the multi-layered flavours to open up harmoniously. It is an excellent culinary accompaniment to smoked lamb, game dishes or grilled steaks - its smoky character unfolds perfectly, especially in combination with herb butter or sweet glazes. It also goes well with mature cheese, roasted nuts or desserts with dark chocolate and caramel.
