The Scheiblhofer Big John Cuvée Reserve 2023 with 14% vol. in a 1.5-litre magnum bottle including gift box is an opulent, powerful red wine cuvée from Burgenland and is one of Scheiblhofer's most distinctive wines. The cuvée is composed of the Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir grape varieties and aged for 12 months in new American barriques, which gives it its intense, distinctive character.


The 2023 vintage presents itself in a particularly dense, extract-rich form and displays the typical Big John style: powerful, structured and with an international flavour. The combination of ripe grapes, American oak and the Langs maturation period results in a multi-layered, complex cuvée with impressive depth. Due to the slow development typical of magnums, the wine has a storage potential until 2035. Closed with a natural cork, this reserve is ideal for special occasions, festive evenings and lovers of characterful, concentrated red wines. A wine that masterfully combines power, richness and a long-lasting presence.

Tasting Note

Dense violet colour with ruby red edges. Total fruitiness on the nose, subtle caramel notes and fine roasted accents. Complex, multi-layered and powerful on the palate, carried by powerful tannins and a toasty oak flavour. The finish is spicy, intense and long-lasting, with dark fruit and elegant depth.

Residual sugar: 2.2 g/l

An excellent accompaniment to dark meat, game, strong sauces, braised beef, savoury mushroom dishes and Mediterranean meat variations. The ideal serving temperature is 16 °C. Decanting is recommended to fully open up the aromatic structure. The Big John in the Magnum is an ideal companion for festive occasions and food-intensive menus with a long-lasting effect.
