The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted manually, which means that only healthy, optimally ripened grapes are processed. A maceration period of 2 to 3 days gives the wine additional depth and structure without compromising its freshness. The wine is matured in a differentiated way over six months, 80% in stainless steel tanks to preserve the clear fruit and 20% in large used 500-litre wooden barrels, which give the wine substance and fine complexity. With an alcohol content of 13%, this Vulkanland Steiermark DAC is balanced, taut and has a pronounced drinkability.


The fine filtration ensures clarity and precision, while bottling with a screw cap preserves freshness and purity. The 2024 vintage is designed for longevity and reaches its optimum drinking window between 2025 and 2030. This Frauwallner Sauvignon Blanc reveals its tension of fruit, acidity and mineral depth, which is typical of the region's volcanic soils, particularly at a drinking temperature of 10 to 12 °C.

Tasting Note

Clear, pale yellow in the glass with a fresh appearance. On the nose, cassis, gooseberry and yellow pepper accompanied by fine spice. Taut and precise on the palate with crisp acidity, dense structure and fine smoky basalt minerality. The finish is long, animating and characterised by an enormous drinking flow.
