The Winkler-Hermaden Blauer Zweigelt Steiermark 2021 stands for an authentic, straightforward Zweigelt from Styria, which is deliberately geared towards uncomplicated drinking pleasure and clear varietal typicity. At around 30%, Blauer Zweigelt is the winery's main grape variety and therefore plays a central role in the range. This single-varietal bottling is considered the "little brother" of the Olivin and shows an accessible, honest style with a regional signature. The wine is vinified dry and is suitable for vegans, which emphasises the winery's purist approach. With an alcohol content of 12.5%, the 2021 vintage is balanced, light-footed and very harmonious.


After fermentation, the wine remains on the skins for a slightly shorter period to preserve its freshness and fruit. It then matures for around two years in large wooden barrels made from Kapfenstein oak, which gives it structure and calm without overpowering its character. The focus is clearly on drinkability, elegance and a mild body. This Blauer Zweigelt from Styria is ideal for immediate enjoyment and impresses with its uncomplicated, honest style.

Tasting Note

Clear ruby red in the glass. Varietal cherry fruit with fine spice on the nose. Dry, balanced and juicy on the palate with a mild structure and well-integrated acidity. The finish is soft, harmonious and pleasantly accessible.

The Winkler-Hermaden Blauer Zweigelt Steiermark 2021 is an excellent accompaniment to classic snack dishes, light home cooking or pasta dishes. It is also very harmonious with poultry, mildly spiced meat or vegetarian dishes. This Zweigelt is also a convincing, uncomplicated soloist for relaxed evenings when an honest, regionally characterised red wine with a high drinking flow is required.
