Viticulture based on biodynamic principles

Winkler-Hermaden’s grapes are grown according to biodynamic principles. This means that chemical fertilisers and pesticides are not used; instead, natural preparations and methods are employed.

Gentle processing

After harvesting, the grapes are gently processed to preserve their quality and aromas. Fermentation takes place using natural yeasts, and the wines mature in traditional wooden barrels or modern steel tanks, depending on the type of wine.

Quality control and bottling

Each batch is carefully monitored to ensure it meets the winery’s high standards. The finished wines are then bottled in stylish bottles and are ready to be enjoyed.

Sauvignon Blanc

The Sauvignon Blanc from Winkler-Hermaden is an outstanding white wine that captivates with its freshness and aromatic character. With notes of gooseberry, citrus and green apple, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to light dishes and salads.

Traminer

Traminer is a typical Styrian wine that impresses with its floral aromas and spicy notes. This wine is excellent as an aperitif or with Asian dishes.

Pinot Gris

The Pinot Gris from Winkler-Hermaden is a full-bodied white wine with aromas of pear, nuts and a hint of honey. This wine is ideal with fish dishes and white meat.

Red wines: Zweigelt and Merlot

Winkler-Hermaden also produces excellent red wines, including Zweigelt and Merlot. These wines are characterised by their depth, complexity and intense fruit aromas. They are the perfect accompaniment to hearty dishes and cheese.

Old Vines

The ‘Alte Reben’ Linie comprises wines made from particularly old vines. These wines are characterised by their exceptional concentration and complexity and are ideal for special occasions.

The Winkler-Hermaden Winery was founded in 1918 and has developed over the decades into one of the leading wineries in Styria. The Winkler-Hermaden family has been running the estate in Kapfenstein for four generations and has always placed great emphasis on quality and sustainability.
