Description
Description
The Pfneisl Pentagon 2022 is a powerful yet precisely composed Austrian quality red wine cuvée from central Burgenland that combines depth, flavour and ageing potential at a high level. Produced by the renowned Pfneisl winery, this wine stands for modern Burgenland red wine art with an international flavour. The cuvée of Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot utilises the respective strengths of the grape varieties and combines structure, fruit and spice to create a dense, harmonious overall picture.
The Pfneisl Pentagon is aged dry and matures for 18 months in barriques, creating depth, complexity and a finely integrated woody flavour. With an alcohol content of 14.5%, the 2022 vintage is juicy, elegant and powerful at the same time. The tannin structure is ripe and precisely integrated, giving the wine not only immediate drinking pleasure but also a secure ageing potential. Bottled with a natural cork, this red wine from Burgenland is a sophisticated cuvée for connoisseurs and lovers of structured wines. Decanting is recommended to fully develop the aromatic depth.
Tasting Note
A deep, dark ruby-garnet colour with an opaque core, violet reflections and a delicate brightening of the rim. The nose reveals a tart, dense aroma of dark berries, ripe cherries and pomegranate, accompanied by cocoa, tobacco nuances, dried herbs and juniper. On the palate, the wine is juicy and elegant with a fine fruity sweetness, ripe tannins and mineral tension. The finish is dense, chocolaty, long and grippy with peppery, cedar and fine spicy accents in the aftertaste.
The Pfneisl Pentagon 2022 is an ideal accompaniment to steaks, beef tartare, burgers and other hearty meat dishes, where its structure and flavour come into their own. This dry red wine cuvée also unfolds its full depth with braised meat or dishes with roasted flavours. Due to its density and ageing potential, this bottling is recommended both for immediate consumption after sufficient aeration and for storage over several years.
