Scheiblhofer The Merlot 2023 is a powerful yet exceptionally elegant Austrian quality red wine that interprets the Merlot grape variety in a particularly profound and long-lasting style. Produced by the renowned Scheiblhofer winery, this wine comes from selected vineyards in Burgenland, where the Pannonian climate offers ideal conditions for fully ripe, concentrated Merlot grapes. The focus is on structure, depth and a precise balance between fruit, tannin and wood.


Scheiblhofer The Merlot is vinified dry and matured for 18 months in new barriques, resulting in a powerful yet creamy body with great complexity. With an alcohol content of 14.5%, the 2023 vintage is expressive, dense and yet finely balanced. The style is designed for longevity, which is reflected in the recommended drinking maturity of 2025 to 2035. Despite its power, the wine retains an elegant line and a fragrant, multi-layered finish. Decanting is recommended before drinking to fully open up the aromatic depth.

A dark violet colour in the glass. Complex aromas of wild berries with a fine cinnamon note on the nose. Powerful on the palate with creamy, multi-layered tannins, a powerful body and harmonious structure. The finish is fragrant, long-lasting and characterised by elegant depth.
